Have you seen crime dramas on TV. They try to follow the money trail only to discover multiple shell corporations preventing the investigators getting to the actual dollars....
Similarly the Watchtower Organisation has a whole list of different corporations under headings like IBSA, Christian Congregation, WTB&TS, etc etc. You have to ask yourself why?
Follow the money trail.

Relative rates of mental illness
by Doug Mason ina report produced 50 years ago by a psychiatrist at a west australian mental health facility ("asylum"l reported that the mental illness rate among jws was 3 times the norm of society.
other similar studies at the time concluded the rate was much higher.. i wrote to the psychiatrist at the time, asking whether the wts attracted people who were already susceptible to mental illness or if the situation was created after the person became a jw.
he responded that they did not know.. being myopically focused on the wts at the time, but more importantly belonging to an alternative eschatological apocalyptic body at the time, i did not think more broadly.. i think that today i would like to know:.

Lost in the fog
I know that approximately two thirds of the congregation I used to attend were getting antidepressants or actively seeing a mental health professional, including a few of the elders.
I myself suffered from a period of severe clinical depression and it was the way I was ignored and treated by my "loving caring brothers" which started my journey out as my health improved.

2 Tim 3:5
by Lost in the fog inthe organisation is very quick to point the finger at churches but gets aggressive if you point out that it equally applies to them.. here's an example : “having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power.”—2 timothy 3:5.. quote : bible truth has the power to change lives.
(ephesians 4:22-24) but some of the most ungodly acts take place under the veil of religion.
a tragic example is the sexual abuse of children by the clergy.

The Fall Guy,
Except you stopped too soon in the Insight Book, the part you refer to is only (they say) about the 1st century Christian congregation; because the next section in the book goes on to describe how the Org was cleansed (after 1919) and the apostasy is only among the "professed Christians" outside.

The organisation is very quick to point the finger at churches but gets aggressive if you point out that it equally applies to them.

QUOTE : Bible truth has the power to change lives. (Ephesians 4:22-24) But some of the most ungodly acts take place under the veil of religion. A tragic example is the sexual abuse of children by the clergy. According to The New York Times, a lawyer in the United States “says he has 200 cases pending in 27 states on behalf of clients who say they were molested by priests.” Truly, any form or pretense of godly devotion these clergymen display is exposed as mere hypocrisy by their wicked works. g95 4/22 4-8.
But when I try to shake a friend awake with the recent disclosures about child abuse in the organisation he says it is all apostate lies, because it has never happened.
Such blinkered self-righteousness does my head in. 😢😢

Our former presiding overseer had a motorbike for years. He used his car for the meetings to give others a lift, but he travelled to any of the conventions in his leathers.

Blood Componenets Are The Issue

Thank you, that was very informative. My heart goes out to that poor family on the loss of their son. I have always believed that the WTS were wrong over the fractions v components arguments. I recall an HLC member telling me he was concerned in his own conscience about recommending certain fractions; because the % of a fraction administered multiple times might add up to be equivalent to a component, and this made no sense to him.
But that's the problem trying to apply 2,000 year old writings to modern practices. I look forward to reading more from this man.

So What Drastic Money Change is Next?
by OnTheWayOut inokay, they cheapened the product by getting rid of hardcover books.
they reduced printing of mags.
they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't abandon all conventions in favor of televised ones instead, but ask for the money to cover the cost of doing so. I know many brothers who would gladly pay not to have to travel miles away and sit on hard chairs for 7 hours for the 3 days.
